Gian A. Jones, a Queens-native, has announced his candidacy for the 10th District of the New York State Senate. Gian, 36, a real estate professional by trade, has been involved in the politics of his community for the past twenty years and is seeking to represent the communities of Jamaica, South Jamaica, Springfield Gardens, Rosedale, Ozone Park, Richmond Hill and Far Rockaway.
Gian, a Democrat, has worked in the private, government and non-profit sectors. He began his life of political involvement working closely with now Congressman Gregory W. Meeks in his first bid for the New York City Council in 1991. He also helped Congressman Meeks in his subsequent campaigns for the New York State Assembly and the U.S. House of Representatives, all of which were successful. During Meeks' first term in the State Assembly, Gian served as a Community Liaison in his office representing the Rockaway Community. He has worked tirelessly on many other campaigns including those for David Dinkins, Carl McCall, Floyd Flake, Mario Cuomo, and Charles Schumer. Gian also served on the advance team for Hilary Rodham Clinton's successful bid for the United States Senate and as Senior Adviser to James Neal in his historic bid for the United States Senate against Elizabeth Dole in North Carolina. ...Continue reading
